Earth Day is a reminder to take better care of our planet. But sometimes it can be hard to take that first step in our own lives. So, in honour of #EarthDay, we asked the artists behind SKéN:NEN what's one thing we can all do for Mother Earth. Check out what they had to say! 🌏🌻 [Video description: A video of Santee Smith, Monique Mojica, Emma Lopez, and Semiah Smith each talking to camera, cut together. • “Eudaimonia” is a form of happiness, but not the kind obtained by avoiding suffering and seeking pleasure, but rather the one that comes from consciously trying to be better each day. The sense of joy that comes from living life with a “good spirit” by working daily on doing our best, no matter the circumstances, leads us to the highest and most lasting form of personal and collective happiness. "Eudaimonia" was commissioned by the Tokyo Lights Festival, where we had the honour to participate as guest artists and Judges. With this theme, we tried to imagine how our invisible connections could look, like a complex puzzle of mechanisms and dominoes. We tried to visualize how a good action can spark a mesmerizing chain reaction of positive consequences and how happiness can be contagious and change the world's colors. We tried to materialize gardens of joy and the shapes of the future that humans could build together for the greater good. #projectionmapping #projection #tokyo #videomapping

  • This is the video from Tokyo Concerto, part of the Guinness World Record for Permanent Projection, "Tokyo Night and Light." On this International Women's Day, we are proud to be one of the two women-led teams, along with Decidekit Studio from Thailand, that collaborated on this cutting-edge project, made with the most potent projectors available to date and using renewable energy sources. #internationalwomensday2024 #projectionmapping #guinessworldrecord #womensday

  • Permanent Projection Installations can have a very positive impact on the local economy. It is the first weekend and just last night alone 10,000 people came to se it. We are honored to be a part of Tokyo Night & Light. #projectionmapping #guinnessworldrecords

10000 people came to watch the Tokyo Night & Light projections last night. Once again we identify the same pattern: permanent projection installations become landmarks, audiences seek them out and share them organically. People gather together, wait for the shows and fill the local restaurants, hotels, shops, etc., reactivating the local economy. The complexity of the building is also an interesting case study, buildings with too many windows are not ideal for projection, but this just goes to show how well designed projects can be successful too if you study the architecture and design site specific work. It also helps having the best technology available, a combination of 50,000 lumen and 35,000 lumen Panasonic projectors to make for crisp focus, great brightness, saturation and contrast. So bright that the projection reflects back all around the buildings nearby. (Check out the photos) The more we create the more we learn, please come to see it if you can! Our work along with our friends from DecideKit and FLIGHTGRAF is shown on weekends. ❤️ #projectionmapping #guinnessworldrecords #tokyo

The Guinness World record for the largest permanent projection mapping was awarded yesterday to The city of Tokyo for “Tokyo Night and Light!” We are honored to be a part of the Tokyo Concerto project, transforming the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building with light. We are incredibly thankful to Director Michiyuki Ishita for this dream project. It is a joy and a privilege to work on such a significant landmark along our good friends and award winning artists: Composer Hideaki Takahashi, Kento Tomiyoshi and Makoto Shozu from FLIGHTGRAF and Decidekit Jib and her team DecideKit. We had so much fun making this project but we also felt a huge responsibility as artists coming from a different cultural background, and we would like to thank the Pmaj Projection Mapping for their guidance, support and hard work to make these incredible dreams come to life. Hideki Fujii Misae Fujinami Ayako Shinohara Takashi Shigetake Ayumi Yoshida Phil Ha thank you all! To our team back in Toronto, our project Manager Irish Ann Pinpin, Pedro Flores Sigg, Yena Lee and Rock Narvaez, we couldn’t have done this without you. “Tokyo Concerto” can be seen on weekends every half an hour starting at 7:00 pm. #projectionmapping

We really enjoy the opportunity of making holiday projects. For this one in particular, all characters were designed, modelled, painted and animated from scratch by our team at AVA Animation & Visual Arts Inc for the Leganes' City Hall. #projectionmapping #videomapping #spain
