Nestled in the heart of Hong Kong’s central business district, The Henderson, our flagship commercial project designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, is no doubt a sight to behold. Its spectacular glass façade has recently been revealed in its entirety, much to the fanfare and anticipation of architecture enthusiasts and industry professionals alike. This is very sad to read. Like many people in our industry, my interest in lighting was sparked by Richard's book, Stage Lighting. I poured over every word and image, again and again, as I tried to extract ever ounce of knowledge that I could from this amazing book. Many years later I was fortunate enough to meet Richard in Hong Kong whilst he was giving a lecture. His enthusiasm, passion and knowledge and more importantly, his willingness to share this knowledge, was inspirational. He is the reason that so many people entered this industry. Richard led the way not only in stage lighting, but also in theatre consultancy, setting extraordinary standards that we all aspire to achieve. My thoughts go to his family and his colleagues Theatre Projects.
We are heartbroken to share that our friend and founder, Richard Pilbrow, has passed away. We send our regards and warmest wishes to Richard’s family and the many members of his extended community. Richard was such an extraordinary force in our lives, and we invite those who didn’t know him well or who would like to remember a few moments from his life in the theatre to see our below piece on his passing.
