Happy International Museum Day 2024! Ideum has its roots in interactive exhibit design and to this day we love working with museums! In this post, we are celebrating the Life! Beginnings exhibit at the California Science Center. Life! Beginnings tells a story in which we all play a part: how organisms are conceived, how they develop in the womb, and how their genetic inheritance interacts with environmental forces to shape the adult beings they become. Opening May 1, our new groundbreaking Spagat Family Voices of Genocide Exhibition explores how and why genocide continues to occur across geography and time. Learn from survivors and descendants of genocides in Armenia, Guatemala, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Rwanda, and Burma, about the common conditions that can lead to genocide and how recognizing these factors helps determine efforts toward intervention and prevention. Join us for the exhibition’s opening program featuring Mark Akgulian, descendant of four Armenian genocide survivors; Irma Alicia Velásquez Nimatuj, Maya Kich’e’ survivor of the Guatemalan genocide; Kizito Kalima, Tutsi survivor of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda; and Amina, Rohingya survivor of the ongoing genocide in Burma. Moderated by Kelley Szany, Senior Vice President of Education & Exhibitions for the Museum, this powerful conversation with five witnesses whose stories are part of this remarkable exhibition is not to be missed.

A new project is taking shape in the Ravenswood Studio, Inc. Art Department! This lovely swan will soon take flight along with a few other sculptures. Activation and branding projects fly in quick, and seem to leave just as quickly, but they are always a blast to build.
