We had a blast participating in COSI’s Big Science Celebration over the weekend! Kids and caregivers braved the rainy weather and unleashed their creativity at our “Create a Cardboard City” activity, building skyscrapers, robots, vehicles, and even a donut shop! By the end of the day, the city was filled with hundreds of fantastic structures for our special guest, Godzilla, to discover and demolish. So much fun fueled with just a little imagination! This spring, Roto has teamed up with designExplorr , a social impact organization dedicated to bridging the diversity gap in the design profession, and Bonfire Red to bring several workshops to Columbus City Schools - Ohio. We’ve been thrilled to volunteer in classrooms at Parkmoor Elementary, East High School, and Northland High School, bringing design education and career insights to eager students. We're honored to contribute to this important work and are inspired by the creativity and talent in these young designers. It’s all hands on deck as Roto’s install team works onsite at the new Da Vinci Science Center in Allentown, PA! This crew of exhibit developers, engineers, media specialists, project directors, and more has been working hard for several weeks, preparing a wide range of exhibits that include hands-on interactives, a multistory climber, live animal habitats, and immersive media as the institution prepares for its grand opening this spring. Roto hosts evaluations of working exhibit prototypes with students all year long. Sometimes, we receive feedback, like this example from William, who recently visited Roto with his third-grade class: “When I went to Roto, it was very fun. My favorite thing in Roto was the sailboat simulator. One piece of feedback is that I would move the button to turn on the fan so it can be used by one person instead of needing two people.” Thanks for the keen insight, William! The Save The Bay - Narragansett Bay Hamilton Family Aquarium in Newport, Rhode Island, opened its doors yesterday! The new 7,000 sf facility includes 13 exhibits highlighting local habitats like Salt Marsh, Rocky Shore, Deeper Waters, and The Bay at Night. Throughout the space, visitors can touch sea stars, horseshoe crabs, sharks – and, interactive touchscreens that explore the local watershed. Roto is honored to have partnered with Save the Bay on this project and to help their guests connect to Narragansett Bay and all it offers as a beautiful natural resource. #savethebay #exhibitdesign #designbuild #rhodeisland #narragansett #conservation

This Women’s History Month, Roto is proud to celebrate the countless women who have made indelible marks on history. We have been honored to recognize several of them in institutions throughout the country – like Mary Louveste at the Nauticus “Norfolk in Time” gallery. Mary braved severe gender, racial, and social repercussions to deliver secret plans of the Confederacy’s new ironclad vessel to Union leaders. The Union used this information to speed the completion of their own ironclad, leading to the great battle of the Monitor and the Merrimac, and the Union maintaining its naval blockade in Norfolk.
